College can be difficult at times and we all feel stress from time to time. However, there are things you can do in your life to make it much more positive.
One thing that helps me is looking at inspirational quotes. You can post quotes in your dorm or on your refrigerator. You can find a lot of inspirational quotes on Tumblr. One of my favorites is, “I’m not where I want to be, but thank goodness I’m not where I used to be.” I really like this quote because I went through an extremely hard time emotionally and mentally in the beginning of the school year, but am a lot better now.
This brings me to my next point, which is that you should always be proud of any progress you make, especially if you were having a hard time before. What I like to do is write my accomplishments for that day on sticky notes and post it on the front of my refrigerator. I do this because my greatest fear is not being good enough. By looking at my accomplishments that I post, I can see that I am good enough and that I am making progress.
Another thing you can do is decorate your dorm door and keep a clean room. I feel a lot better when my room is cleaned, and I want to be in my dorm room more when it’s cleaned. I also like that I decorated my dorm door this week for Halloween. It can be fun to decorate your dorm door and you can get things from the Dollar Store to decorate it with.
Another positive thing that you can do is to take a warm shower and listen to music. These things can help calm you down when you’re feeling overwhelmed.
The most important thing that you can do for yourself is to surround yourself with caring people. I am lucky enough to have a lot of helpful people who care about me and support me through rough times in my life. Fortunately, there are a lot of amazing people on campus. You can write the good memories you made in a journal or on sticky notes that you can post on your refrigerator.
If you implement these things, you can make a positive difference in your life.
